Correlation excavations

0ur staff can assist in the selection and preparation of specific anomaly sites for excavation based on the inspection field reports. During the excavation exercise, our staff will examine, measure and document the findings.

Corrpro dig evaluation

  Pre excavation

  • Final chainage check and inductive three way sweep of excavation site.
  • Picture of excavation site before excavation
  • Record C.P. potential from pipe to soil reading with insulated probe.

  During excavation

  • Record soil conditions, and collect soil samples.
  • Photograph pipe as exposed.
  • Record pipe temperature.
  • Record C.P. potentials.
  • Collect samples of any external corrosion or C.P. products.

  After excavation

  • Thorough evaluation of coating before and after removal
  • Collect under coating samples.
  • Thorough visual inspection of pipe.
  • Photograph excavation and pipe.
  • Record pipe wall thickness obtained by U.T. measurement.

  External Anomalies

  • Mylar tracing of affected pipewall
  • Pit depth measurements recorded on tracing.
  • Photographs of anomalies.
  • Evaluation of anomaly severity through RSTRENG calculation.
  • Evaluation of anomaly severity through CSA Z662.
  • Recommendation for appropriate  repair.

  Internal Anomalies

  • Radiograph of suspect pipe.
  • Ultrasonic inspection of pipe.
  • Map anomaly with wall thickness measurements included.
  • Evaluation of anomaly severity through RSTRENG calculation.
  • Evaluation of anomaly severity through CSA Z662
  • Recommendation for appropriate repair.

  Cracks and Dents

  • Fluorescent Wet magnetic particle inspection of pipe.
  • Die penetrant application on affected pipe.
  • Shear-wave ultrasonic inspection.
  • Evaluation of anomaly severity through CSA Z662
  • Recommendation for appropriate repair.
