IAP manages pipeline design and maintenance information and assesses the risks and consequences of pipeline failures using a popular relative risk indexing methodology. IAP is a Windows based application designed with an Explorer type file open hierarchy, data input grids, reporting and data import\export facilities. IAP calculates risks of seven failure and three consequence types, potential rupture volumes, MAOP's, ANSI B31G values and other pressure related information. The program uses Visio software to graphically display integrity and risk related data for further analysis. IAP facilitates the prioritization of risk minimization projects and is a tool being used to support client U.S. DOT Risk Demonstration Projects. Thousands of miles of pipeline have been assessed using IAP. The program was designed using Visual Basic and Microsoft Access.

IAP Features

  • Manages pipeline information more than 100 variables
  • Calculates pipeline MOP and MAOP
  • Calculates relative risk and consequence of failure and prioritizes pipeline areas for risk reduction activities.
  • Manages InLine Inspection data and calculates B31G values
  • Allows for pressure planning, adjusts pressures for elevation changes and calculates %SMYS pressures
  • Calculates rupture volume discharge potentials
  • Graphically presents database information on profile drawings
  • Builtin export and import utilities
  • Data audit routines verify data integrity
  • Stores and uses pipeline centerline and equation data
  • Connectable to GIS and other database systems
  • Available in metric and English units

User friendly data input screens and grid for easydata entry
Powerful and flexible graphics for analyzing data

Hardware Requirements

IAP uses Access®, Visual Basic®, and Visio® and performs
best under the following requirements:

  • Pentium® 133Mhz with 32 RAM
  • 50 MB data storage typical
  • 32 Bit operating system

IAP is in use at major natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline companies, with more than 20,000 miles of pipe assessed throughout the U.S. and internationally.  The IAP is licensed on a per PC basis or though a corporate arrangement. Ongoing development is based on input from a formal users group.
